Mindfulness Meditation
The rewards of meditation are well proven: reduced stress, improved concentration, and an over-all sense of well-being. But that is just the beginning! Meditation is a science that allows us to studies our own minds: seeing our struggles more clearly and providing the opportunity to make friends with ourselves and appreciate our basic goodness and natural beauty. We do not have to look outside ourselves for happiness but can recognize how the ordinary aspects of life are more powerful and transformative. Providing a space to work with aggression, anger, hopes and fears by seeing them as merely thoughts (ones we often give much power to and overwhelm us) develops the mindfulness and awareness to feel we have choices, let go of old habits and see the ways we hold ourselves back. In these weeks we will work with sitting meditation, walking meditation and meditation in action. A brief talk and instructions, followed by meditation practice, individual meditation instruction, and small group discussion will be the format of this class.
Instructions in three simple mindfulness/awareness technique will be provided (sitting, walking and sending/taking meditations) along with a brief introductory talk on. Following the meditations, there will be a discussion and tea. This awareness practices helps to reduce stress and bring greater joy into our hearts.

Christina Garay Lohry holds a BA and MA in Dance/Movement Therapy, is a certified brain gym instructor, yoga instructor and certified meditation instructor with 40 years of experience.
